Craig Maldonado

The attic of a garage was re-structured and reconceived into a guest house that looks like it’s from the 1920s. Craig carefully removed all of the support beams of traditional “California Framing” or “Balloon Framing” construction to maximize open floor area. Two balconies were added to provide outdoor areas, and bring light into the only two vertical walls of the space. The remaining sloping walls were redesigned to provide hidden storage and run mechanical systems through the living quarters.
