THE MAJESTIC HOTEL
The Majestic Hotel project is a design concept executed by Craig Maldonado and Corbin Plays. The program includes the redesign of a hotel lobby, bar, night club and spa. Each element takes on its on visual form, although the overall concept is deeply rooted in "dream-like" evocative spaces. The striped lobby bar, which is constructed of intensely crisp, random stripes, strongly contrasts with the weathered, monochromatic old-world feel of the hotel lobby, with elements like a patchwork of the 120 year old mosaic floor tiles discovered during project demolition. True to the exploration of paradox, the lower level foyer, much inspired by the New York subway system, contrasts with the a spa concept that uses Hindu graphics to create a natural and holistic feel.
